HOULLIER "JUST ALIVE" AFTER SECOND OPERATION FAILS
LIVERPOOL MANAGER GERARD HOULLER has reportedly nearly died in hospital after a second heart attack almost took its toll on his life. Reports in dailly newspapers this morning that the "French Scouser" had sadly passed away are "completely without foundation" according to Houllier himself. However the newspapers say his opinion of whether he is dead or not are unimportant as he is not medically qualifyed. URZ.4t's ABOUT-DA-WORLD department has discovered that Houllier nearly did die after a second completely unnecessary operation on his heart was unsucessful. The Liverpool manager is expected to retire entirely from management after his ordeal but could possibly make a comeback with Luton Town next season as Joe Kinnear has done.

THE PLAYERS FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION has declared a strike. This has been threatened for some time now but few people believed that the PFA would have the guts to anger the FA, clubs and risk alienating the players from their employers further. Leeds Utd have already declared that their players will not be paid on days when they strike but it seems the players are decided on the issue and Robbie Keane, Leeds' influencial striker wanted by Real Madrid, has announced he will sue the club as every EU worker has the right to be paid while on strike.
WHAT DOES IT MEAN? :-
well basically the end of football! Any game broadcast on television will be effected, meaning that all premiership matches and many in the Nationwide league will be cancelled.
NOW WHAT DO I DO ON A SATURDAY? :- Um well URZ doesnt know!
WHY IS IT HAPPENING? :- The PFA is notoriously underfunded and relys on donations from the FA- The players think some off the television revenue making the football association rich should go to the PFA but for some reason the FA disagree.

Colombia ref - I received death threats BOGOTA, Oct 16 - A leading Colombian referee said on Tuesday that he had received death threats as violence once again to interfere with the sport in the strife-torn Andean nation. 'This morning, when I was training, some people came up to me and told me that I was robbing some football teams and they were going to clean up football,' said Felipe Russi. Russi, visibly shaken, said the incident happened in a park in the western suburbs of Bogota and that he had reported it to both the Colombian Football Federation (FCF) and the police. 'They must respect our lives,' Russi said. 'People have to understand that we are human beings who try to do our best, we don't want to hurt anyone.' Referees have been threatened and even killed before in Colombia. In 1988, Armando Perez was kidnapped for 24 hours and told that officials who made wrong decisions would be killed. One year later referee Alvaro Ortega was killed by two gunmen after officiating at a match in Medellin between Independiente Medellin and America. Ortega had disallowed an Independiente goal and had sent off one of the team's players in an earlier match. An anonymous caller said he and his bosses had lost a lot of money as a result of Ortega's decisions. Domestic football was then suspended as authorities attempted to clean up the sport. It resumed in 1990 but shortly afterwards, Colombia was temporarily banned from hosting all international matches when a Uruguayan referee claimed he had been threatened before a Libertadores Cup match between local club Atletico Nacional and Brazil's Vasco da Gama. The most publicised incident happened in 1994 when Colombia defender was shot dead in Medellin shortly after returning home from the World Cup, where he scored an own goal in the 2-1 defeat by the United States. Earlier this year, Colombia hosted the Copa America tournament. The cup passed off without serious incident but Argentina refused to take part after the competition, which had been postponed due to security worries, suddenly went ahead at six days' notice.
